Planning Design has been successful in securing planning consent at appeal for a residential development in Ashfield We submitted an outline planning application for the construction of up to 7 dwellings on land off Laburnum Avenue on the edge of Kirkby-in-Ashfield. The site comprised a small field at the junction of Park Lane and Laburnum Avenue, surrounded by existing development on three sides. The field had little ecological or landscape value and could accommodate a modest development in a sustainable location. Ashfield District Council refused the planning application on the grounds that it resulted in unacceptable harm to the character and appearance of the landscape and that it would prejudice the development of the wider area.
A strong case was put forward appealing this decision and was recently allowed and planning permission granted. The inspector agreed that the site was in a sustainable location for development, would help to address the District’s shortfall in their housing supply and have only limited harm upon the landscape.
