In the Bassetlaw District, north Nottinghamshire, Planning Design was successful in gaining outline planning consent for around 25 dwellings on a greenfield site. The site lies outside the settlement boundary for the village of Beckingham, meaning such development might normally be unacceptable. However, the council’s lack of a five year housing land supply meant that its housing policies must be considered out of date. Planning officers agreed, concluding that the site is in a sustainable location and that there will be no significant and demonstrable environmental, social or economic harm arising from the proposal. The consent will lead to the delivery of much needed new housing in an attractive area.
