Joe Kelly

Joe is an Assistant Town Planner based in Derby, supporting planning projects across Derbyshire and the wider Midlands region. Since joining Planning & Design Practice in September 2026, Joe has been developing his experience in town planning, planning applications and policy-led development.

Joe is undertaking an Urban Planning Degree Apprenticeship at Sheffield Hallam University currently. He is working towards a master’s degree in urban planning.

At Planning & Design Practice, Joe contributes to a range of planning consultancy service. He assists with preparing and monitoring planning applications, writing planning and feasibility statements and communicating with clients and businesses. He is gaining valuable experience working within the planning system across Derbyshire, Yorkshire, and the Midlands, by helping to deliver well-considered and policy-compliant development proposals.

Joe is enthusiastic about developing his career in town planning and urban architecture, with a particular interest in highways and ensuring that communities are well-connected, allowing people to move easily and sustainably between point A to point B.

Outside of work, Joe enjoys listening to music, spending time with his friends and traveling abroad, exploring new and familiar places.
