Neighbourhood plans
We have a regular workflow of Neighbourhood Plans. We can advise Parish Councils and Neighbourhood Plan Groups on the production of neighbourhood plans.

Working for the NHS
Planning & Design Practice are pleased to be working as planning consultants for the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust to deliver new buildings and facilities across Southern Derbyshire & East Staffordshire. In the past 12 months we have secured permission for:-
- A 3 storey ward extension across the front of Derby Royal Hospital
- A new operating theatre
- A new day patient ward
- A temporary ward to help address winter pressures
- An extension to the staff car park

Local Authority Appeal Work
We have handled appeals on behalf of several Local Authorities. This includes appearing at appeal hearings and acting as expert planning witness at Public Inquiries. We would only take on a case if we feel the planning arguments are justified. Once appointed however, we would typically manage the process on behalf of the local authority, preparing statements and liaising with Councilors, officers, other consultants / expert witnesses and barristers.
We have a good record of success, always working hard to present a strong case, but in a professional and measured way. In 2018 we appeared as expert planning witness on behalf of Amber Valley Borough Council at the Bullsmoor Public Inquiry, concerning a site in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Buffer Zone, helping the Council to successfully defend its decision.
