Jon Millhouse

Director - Chartered Town Planner

Jon is both a Chartered Town Planner and a Full Member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, with a specialist interest in Historic Building Conservation.

Jon Millhouse is a Director at Planning & Design Practice and a highly experienced Planning and Heritage Consultant based in Derbyshire. Jon joined the company in 2004 after graduating with a First Class degree in Environmental Design and Conservation at Oxford Brookes University. He has since carried out further training in Urban Design at Birmingham City University, and completed the RIBA Conservation Course, strengthening his expertise in heritage, conservation and planning in the UK.

Jon became a Director at Planning & Design Practice in 2011 and has played a key role in growing the practice’s reputation across Derbyshire and the Wider Midlands region. He leads a broad range of projects, including planning applications, Listed Building applications and planning appeals, and the preparation of heritage impact assessments, Heritage Statements, site appraisals and masterplans. Jon has extensive experience working with local authorities, conservation officers and planning departments, delivering successful outcomes for projects involving listed buildings and heritage assets across Derbyshire. 

A member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Jon is also a Full member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC), reflecting his dual expertise in town planning and historic environment.

Living in Derbyshire, Jon has a strong connection to the local built environment and a deep understanding of the region’s architectural heritage.  He has written for Derbyshire Life magazine on historic buildings and is the author of “Derbyshire: A Journey of Discovery” a book celebrating the county’s heritage, historic architecture, landscapes and places.

Outside of work, Jon enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the Derbyshire countryside, running, and supporting Derby County Football Club.
