David is an Architectural Technologist who studied at Nottingham Trent University.
David Innes is an Architectural Technologist with over 9 years’ experience specialising in historic building conservation, heritage-led design and the sensitive adaptation of listed buildings across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and the wider Midlands.
Before joining Planning & Design Practice, David worked at a conservation-focused architectural practice in Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, where he developed a strong passion for the preservation and restoration of heritage assets. This experience provided a solid foundation in working with traditional buildings, historic fabric and conservation principles.
David’s professional experience has primarily focused on heritage and conservation projects, where he is committed to preserving the character and significance of historic buildings while ensuring they are adapted for modern use in a sustainable and sensitive way. His work supports clients in achieving planning and Listed Building Consent approvals for projects involving historic and designated buildings.
Since joining Planning & Design Practice, David has contributed to a wide range of projects across different sectors and scales, further developing his technical expertise as an Architectural Technologist. He plays a key role in the preparation of detailed technical drawings, construction information and coordination of projects through delivery stages, supporting successful project outcomes.
Based in the East Midlands, David has a strong appreciation of the local built environment in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, particularly the region’s rich historic character.
Outside of work, David enjoys hiking in the Peak District and surrounding countryside, further reinforcing his connection to the landscapes and heritage of the area.
