David Symons
BArch, March, PGCert, ARB, RIBA
Associate Director - Chartered Architect
Before joining the practice David was working as a Project Architect at a multi-RIBA award winning national practice based in Birmingham leading large scale mixed-use urban regeneration schemes, higher education refurbishment and commercial office fit outs.
Prior to this David built up 5 years of experience working across RIBA stages 1-6 in the East Midlands on projects ranging from domestic extensions to bespoke new build dwellings and developer housing sites of up to 75 homes.
With a deep interest in the interpretation and nuance of the planning system, during his masters degree he carried out a detailed piece of research into Paragraph 80 of the NPPF. Carrying out first hand interviews with experts in the field in addition to studying a detailed sample of past planning applications, creating a valuable piece of research that has been published widely online and expanded his knowledge in a unique field.
Raised in a small village in Devon, David has a passion for rural design and strives to understand a project brief on a personal level whether this comes from a client building their own home or a developer aiming to maximise the quality of a project.
In his spare time David enjoys surfing in North Devon and Cornwall, walking his dog Wilfred and getting out into the Derbyshire countryside.
