Director - Chartered Town Planner
Richard is a chartered town planner with over 20 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors. Richard achieved chartered status in 2009 and, after 7 years in local government, joined PDP in 2011. He became a Director in 2015 and has relished the opportunity to use his business knowledge to play his part in the ongoing growth of the company over the last decade.
Richard has a proven track record of managing projects of all sizes, including large scale residential and commercial schemes where there are multiple issues to overcome and a raft of technical reports to coordinate. His particular specialism is in Green Belt development (having spent his local government career working for ‘green belt’ planning authorities in Cheshire and Berkshire) and he is able to unpick the complex set of green belt restrictions enshrined in planning policy as well as the implications of the new ‘grey belt’ designation.
Richard is also very well versed in the promotion of land through the plan making process and has represented clients at numerous Local Plan examinations in public. He has extensive experience of the appeal process, having appeared as an expert witness at numerous planning inquires for both public and private clients.
A keen golfer Richard tries to fit this in around his busy family life. He also loves the great outdoors and has been known to partake in mountain marathons, particularly when its cold and wet.
